Velvet Stage
Crimson velvet drapes, a vintage Hammond organ and Leslie, full drum kit, congas and a waiting microphone. The beating heart of the house — built for live sets, launches, acoustic rehearsals and album listening parties.
An intimate, vintage-inspired creative salon for recordings, workshops, gatherings and artist development — wrapped in velvet, warm light and mid-century soul.

Joy’s on the Avenue is an intimate, vintage-inspired creative salon designed for small gatherings, recordings, workshops and artistic development sessions. Set around a rich velvet performance backdrop, a vintage Hammond organ and Leslie, curated mid-century furnishings and warm ambient lighting, the space offers a distinctive atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and welcoming.
Unlike a traditional meeting room or studio, Joy’s on the Avenue has been intentionally styled to encourage meaningful conversations, creative expression and memorable experiences.
The doors have welcomed locals since the 1950s — first as the neighbourhood hairdresser, the original painted window and teal tilework still proudly in place.
Today the chairs and dryers have made way for art, antiques and atmosphere. Joy's on the Avenue is now an art salon for private hire — a one-of-a-kind backdrop for launches, parties, shoots and celebrations that wears its history beautifully.
Proud official creative salon for Zen Zen Zo Independent Theatre.
One flowing salon that shapes itself to the night — a stage to perform on, corners to create in, rooms to gather in.

A burnt-orange seventies sofa, a working vintage television and a mini gallery of local Brisbane artists set the scene for artist development workshops, coaching and mentoring sessions, writers’ circles and creative brainstorming.

16th-century Parisian salon-inspired nooks of tasselled brocade armchairs — a character-filled set for podcast recordings, interview filming, songwriting sessions and content creation.

Walls layered with thrifted seascapes, wild horses and ships at dusk. A ready-made backdrop for photography sessions and styled shoots.

An outdoor corridor draped in bohemian fabrics and sprinkled with fairy lights — a place to settle and contemplate, sitting amongst the gardens or heading to a hideaway, the beckoning of a vinyl lounge.

The big open undercover space: green velvet lounges over polished concrete. The place for private presentations, parties and the dance floor. Private nooks branch off for individual breakouts.
